Hiho!

I'm here to ask you if you know any Ymir similar games. Or Impression/Tilted Mills games... I'm a city building addict, and there isn't many forums for our "kind" (city builder foruns are empty =(( ). So, I present you the upcoming games that I've found:

http://lethispop.com/
A impression games similar, in a distopic Steampunk world (Lethis).. very promising....

http://www.beforegame.net/
A game about the firsts years of mankind, wonderfull artwork and music ambience... loking foward for it!

http://www.grandages.com/us/info.php
A new kalypso's game. Very interessing gameplay idea (similar to Ymir, you can build cities freely...)

satisfied

More games??

Thank you for those! I had never heard of any of them and they all look very interesting.

Some city building games or games which share their aspects I am excited for are:

http://clockworkempires.com/

Set in a Victorian/cosmic horror setting. You are sent to the frontier with a few settlers to hopefully establish a new prosperous colony for the glorious clockwork Emipre. All while fighting your surroundings, bandits, and fish people oh my!

http://stonehearth.net/

A voxel based city builder/rts with light rpg elements. I have been very excited for this one sense the kickstarter!

http://www.gamesfoundry.com/

Help your rather dim peasants build a prosperous village while sending heroes off to adventure and loot!

http://lofigames.com/

Kenshi is an open ended squad based rpg where you can play as a single character or control multiple and set up your own settlement.

http://www.atthegatesgame.com/

At the gates is more like civilization but you might like it. You control a barbarian faction at the fall of the Roman empire.

http://rimworldgame.com/

Kind of like a scifi dwarf fortress with actual graphics and use-able UI

All of the games are in early access but some not very feature complete.

Wow! Very nice list! I didn't know about "At the Gates". The other ones are in my "follow list", stonehearth and cloclwork empires in my "follow closely list" (as Ymir) satisfied

There is some games there are build by indie developers as Fief (http://arboreantears.com/blog/) and Manor Lord (http://forum.unity3d.com/threa.....me.223844/) as the old and good Dwarf Fortress and similars =))

Here is another one I would recommend:

http://thronesofwar.com/index.cfm

It is going to be an MMO as well, I bought myself into it and it looks quite promising, you can download a small (very basic) demo of it already (first version was uploaded last week).

Probably.

Recently i've been playing Tropico5. I quite liked it satisfied
Apparently fans of the series really disliked it compared to the 4th, but i don't get why really. Sure it felt like a "small" game that lacked visual content, and it seems it was mainly disliked because lots of "roleplaying" aspects had disapeared.

But i found the game core to be really good. I had played the 3rd or 4th, can't remember which one, yet i didnt enjoy it that much.
The game is actually quite challenging , in the way i'm aiming for Ymir. The economics and politics are really quite complex and its really fun to learn how to control it.

First of all its one of the rare city builders who gets harder the bigger you grow. It might sound stupid but actually in most city builders the hardest part is the start (finding your economic balance), then paradoxically when you get bigger it gets easier and easier as you get pretty much infinite money and nothing comes around to increase the challenge ( Sim cities, Cities skyline, Anno, even all the old impression games ones etc ).
The simple fact that this game really gets more complex and difficult to manage when you grow - the way all these games should be - makes it worth it.
I also quite like this gameplay of eras that forces you to adapt and change (which i think was also disliked), and where you can't just rely on finding the apropriate economic balance once. I mean you actually lose this game, and its awesome.
Also, it has multiplayer. Even if player-player interactions are pretty much non existant, its still fun to develop at the same time with your friends, and because the game is challenging , you actually lose, making the last one standing the winner.

I didn't like the 5 too much... I just didn't find myself attached to my citizens, as I was in the previous ones... Even in Tropico 2, I was more attached to the YAAAAARRRRR pirates! I really missed the micromenagement too poker

Lethis, path of the progress, is out! satisfied

It's very simillar to the Impression old games, worth a try!

No, it's not as interesting, I agree. And it's not as good as the old Impression games. Still, it has a special steampunk flavor that reminds me of some good anime/mangá/books (especially some Miyazaki's films). And it's interessing to buy it, just to show to the game industry that this genre is not dead! And there's a lot of room to new games, like Ymir! retard

No pay to win at all (so far at least).

Could be that it will be in the future, but so far no plans have been revealed what real money can be used on.

It is also a faction-based game. There will only be 2 faction, you are either human or orc, and you will be working together (or at least not against) with all others of your faction. So even if someone is using money to get an advantage, it is likely one of your allies will as well. Therefore not really giving an individual a huge advantage/disadvantage when paying.

I suddenly noticed that no one have ever mentioned a good game on mobile devices, the Townsmen.

Their facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/Townsmen7

Their google play page: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hg.townsmen7

I don't have any apple devices so I don't know how to find an iOS version but you can surely find it by searching "townsmen".

Don't count on the free edition, the ads spams like shit. And besides, it totally worthes the price.

Here's some feature:

- Totally single player.

- Pay to play faster, but faster doesn't always means win.

- The payed currency could also gain by finishing missions, and the reward is quite fair.

- Building takes time, but you can make them instantly finish by using your payed currency. Researches too. Finishing by currency won't cost your ingame money or materials.

- You need to collect taxes and repair buildings manually, but there are also buildings that can slowly doing the same job.

- No service walkers, except carpenters and tex officers. Your people seeks their need themselves.

- No world map, but the merchant will visit you in time.

- No housing upgrade, yet you need to furfill the demands of your people, a bit like Anno series.

- Transport is the most important part in this game, it affects everything.

- Seasons!

Is it possible to play it with a computer ? I wanted to try Fallout shelter as well, but i do not know if it's possible to play mobile games on a laptop. Anyway, the lack of multiplayer does not encourage me to play.

I don't mind to play alone with RPGs, but for strategy/4X/management games, i tend to prefer playing multiplayer. It's always more interesting to interact with other human consciences rather than artificial intelligences. I may change my mind when machines will have their own free wills though, but it is not yet the case.

On the other hand, intelligent and self reproductible machines could also spell the end of the human race...

It is able to play with computer via an android simulator called "bluestacks", but using mouse to do touching feels a bit wired.

Hmmmm....I agree with you in RTS/4X games, they are much more fun in multiplayer, but for citybuilder...well, impressions games and CotN never have any notable multiplayer, many of them have no multiplayer at all. And Anno series sucks so much with lag. So...I still prefer single player. After all, we came to these games to play god, didn't we?

Ymir is a good start on multiplayer citybuilders, but still, I'm okay with the single player game which I used to play in all other citybuilders.

I downloaded grand ages a few days ago. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't my kind of game either. After an hour I had set up 3 towns, all 3 with different resources and somehow I was still losing more and more money even though I was trading a lot.

Kinda gave up after that.

Some other game though you guys might like to try:

A new city building game, or colony building game should I say, is coming onto steam.

It's a space colony building game called "planet base". You will try to build a colony on Mars-like alien planet, and it's pretty tough. The gameplay feels like "Banished", one step wrong and your colony will suffer heavily, or even went to its doom.retard

You can check this game out if you like Sci-Fi and hardcore city builder.

PS:About Grand Ages Medieval, I though it was a very interesting trading game...that you can easily know which city needs which kinds of goods, and their productions as well. You need to optimize your trade route I suppose, because the trader would decides what to do only based on the next city in the route, so if your trader visit the processing grounds before they got raw goods, they won't keep the raw goods after a long run and feeds the processing ground in the next loop. And thus your processing business will hault, and probably your raw goods will brust your stock pile. This is the most common reason for losing money.

"Space Colony" is another game from firefly, what I talk before is "Planet Base"...I didn't try "space colony" yet, doesn't looks fun at all.

And there's "Project AURA", which supposed to be a city builder too, but with very limited land. It's a tough hardcore game too.

And there's "Hearthland", which is not very new since I noticed it this summer. It's in early access and looks quite unfinished, but it did has its own points of interest. And it followed the old impressions games too.
